Carer permits may be issued to those who live outside the area but are providing care to someone living in a road where parking permits are required. To apply or renew a carer's permit, you must create a non-resident account.

Permits for essential carers are free.

Proof of eligibility

We will need evidence that you are an agency worker with a contract of employment caring for a person, or people, within permit areas. You will need to provide both:

  • a letter from your employer, on company headed paper, proving you are an employee of the company and you require a parking permit
  • a copy of your vehicle registration document or insurance certificate

Conditions

  • resident or business permit accounts should only be created for those with an eligible residential or business address in our borough. Not all addresses within a permit area are eligible
  • new developments are not usually added to existing permit areas 
  • create a non-resident account if you are applying for a dispensation and do not have an eligible address in a permit area
  • any type of permit account holder can also apply for a council car park season ticket
