Housing register

We welcome your interest in applying for social housing. However, we want to make you aware that our waiting list is currently very long, and it may take several years for applicants to secure a home.

We strongly encourage you to also consider other options, including private renting both within and outside the borough along with shared ownership opportunities.

Currently, we are experiencing a backlog in assessing applications due to very high demand. We are committed to transparency, and our webpage will be updated weekly to reflect progress in processing applications:

  • We are assessing applications with a priority date of April/May 2024.

Kent Homechoice

We operate as part of Kent Homechoice. If you already have an account on Kent Homechoice, you need to log into this with your email and password and you can then make an application. If you have not made an application previously, you will first be required to log into Kent Homechoice and create an account.

Before your application can be fully assessed, we will review necessary evidence documents you have submitted. For a comprehensive list of required documents see our evidence to support your application page.

Join our housing register

Once your account is activated and you are live on the housing register, following our assessment, you can then bid on properties.

We manage the assessment of applications for the housing register against our current allocation scheme. You can read more about how we assess applications and decide who's eligible through our housing allocations policy.

If you are homeless or about to be homeless, please see our homelessness advice pages.
