About our Local Plan

Following hearing sessions held in October 2020, planning inspectors decided that the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council Local Plan should not be adopted. It was the inspectors’ view that we did not fulfil a duty to co-operate with Sevenoaks District Council.

Having considered the inspectors’ decision, a meeting of the full council on 13 July 2021 agreed that the best course of action would be to withdraw the current plan.

We are committed to the review and refresh of the plan prior to resubmission. In the meantime, planning decisions will be determined in accordance with national policy and relevant current policies in our adopted Development Plan.

Consultation on the Regulation 19 version of the Local Plan concluded on Monday 19 November 2018.
