LGA Peer Review

The LGA peer review conducted during early 2022 made the following recommendation about TMBC’s communications: 

‘There is a need to strengthen and refocus the enabling services such as HR and communications that are going to help make the change.’ 

TMBC action plan

Develop a communications strategy which:

  • strengthens two-way engagement with residents
  • markets services
  • promotes place and celebrates successes

Develop internal communications to:

  • build a shared sense of purpose beyond finance and compliance
  • recognise the good work across the organisation that happens every day

LGA communications review

Recommendations:

  1. develop and deliver a communications strategy 
  2. prioritise the priorities 
  3. define and agree the key campaigns 
  4. create a strong, clear narrative for council and place 
  5. manage social media enquiries via customer services 
  6. improve social media engagement
  7. establish residents’ preferred communication channels
  8. invest in staff development
  9. identify and consolidate marketing spend
  10. support development of a residents’ satisfaction survey
  11. boost awareness of the MyTMBC app
  12. invest in internal communications
