Check what goes in your food caddy
Food waste is collected separately every week. This includes all cooked and uncooked food waste and leftovers.
The small grey five litre kitchen caddy is for use in the home, and the outdoor 23 litre, black and orange secure, lockable pest-proof food bin holds the waste for collection. Simply transfer the contents of the grey caddy into the black and orange food bin.
The bin is locked when the handle is in the upright or forward position, so make sure it is locked when you present it for collection.
Liners
If you want to use liners in your caddy, you can use compostable liners, paper bags or wrap the food in newspaper. You can find corn/vegetable starch compostable liners in most supermarkets or online, which feature the seedling logo as they are 100 percent compostable. Do not use plastic bags.
You can use the new food waste collection service for things you are unable to compost at home such as meat, fish, skin and bones. Get started with home composting today and make your own beautiful compost for the garden.
