Previous stages

March 2026

Responses to the consultation on the legally required changes to the TRO, which took place between 23 January 2026 and 15 February 2026, were reported to borough councillor members of the 2 March meeting of the Joint Transportation Board. Those councillors considered responses and decided which locations were to be:

  • implemented and proceed to the final stage of making the changes of the TRO
  • reduced
  • abandoned

Their decisions are shown on the above table.

January/February 2026

Consultation on the proposed amendment to the TRO took place 23 January 2026 to 15 February 2026.

December 2025

As reported to the 01 December 2025 Joint Transportation Board Kent County Council, which is the Highway Authority, now requires all proposals for changes to parking be administered through a software package called ParkMap.

ParkMap uses a map-based system to record proposals along with the Traffic Regulation Orders that are in place. In time this should make things easier in terms of processing changes, but this has caused a delay and additional work for the Parking Service as proposals (which had partly been developed using our previous processes) had to be transferred to ParkMap. This took more time than anticipated as the team built familiarity with the ParkMap systems and functionality.

June 2025

Responses to the informal consultation were reported to borough councillor members of the 16 June 2025 Joint Transportation Board, Those councillors considered responses and decided which locations were to:

  • proceed to formal consultation
  • proceed to formal consultation with revised proposals
  • to be abandoned

Their decisions are shown on the above table.

February/March 2025

Informal consultation took place on 23 locations between 18 February 2025 until 17 March 2025.

December 2024

At the 02 December 2024 Joint Transportation Board meeting 29 locations were reported, which were assessed and will progress to an initial design. Where a suitable design is thought to be achievable will move forward to consultation.

June 2023

A list of requests at 31 requests (the maximum number that can be addressed within available staff resources) was recommended for consideration in Phase 15 to borough councillors at the 05 June 2023 Joint Transportation Board meeting. They decided that those locations be taken forward for investigation, and then informal consultation.
