A parking review is planned for Snodland. As reported at the 1 December 2025 meeting of the Joint Transportation Board, this review will take place once sufficient capacity became available within the schedule.
At that meeting local members raised that parking patterns had returned to normal following the COVID-19 pandemic and as such it might no longer be necessary to continue with the parking review and that discontinuing the review at this stage would help maintain the current balance and avoid unnecessary disturbance.
However, no formal decision has been made for the Snodland parking review to be abandoned and there are several requests for changes to parking restrictions at various locations in Snodland in the holding list. Many of these requests have been received since the COVID-19 pandemic and have been made by residents and county councillor, Sarah Hohler.
Snodland car park overview
The decision to introduce charges in Snodland car park was made in January 2020. The final stage before this can begin is formal consultation on the necessary changes to the Off-Street Parking Places Order, which has not taken place yet pending the Snodland Parking Review.
Snodland car park in detail
30 October 2019 meeting of the Street Scene and Environmental Services Advisory Board item SSE 19/25, councillors recommended to Cabinet that parking charges are introduced in:
- Aylesford, Bailey Bridge East and Bailey Bridge West car parks
- Larkfield, Martin Square car park
- Snodland car park
The original proposal was for parking charges in all these car parks to be based on those for Borough Green Western Road car park.
Specifically in relation to Snodland car park (item 1.17.4 (ii)), it was reported that the introduction of charges should not take place until after the Snodland parking review has taken place. So that a ‘joined up’ approach to parking in the town is considered.
6 January 2020 meeting of Cabinet, councillors decided to agree with the recommendation to introduce charges in both Aylesford, Bailey Bridge car parks, Larkfield, Martin Square car park and Snodland car park, and to proceed to formal consultation for the necessary change the Off-Street Parking Places Order.
What might the parking charges be for Snodland car park?
We cannot say what the charges may be for Snodland car park. However, since the original proposals, further decisions have been made specifically relating to parking charges for both Aylesford, Bailey Bridge car parks and Larkfield, Martin Square car park.
Up to date parking charges, and the charging period, which are the same for all those car parks, can be seen using the links below:
