We deal with requests for changes in parking restrictions in three ways:
- phases
for groups of individual parking issues from across the borough - parking reviews
for whole areas with complex parking issues. Areas could cover a parish or a large section of a town - minor amendments
for small changes, for example for new dropped kerbs or parking bays
How are parking restrictions put in place?
To make parking restrictions enforceable, they must be in a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO). This is a legal document and before making changes to it we:
- put an advert in a local newspaper
- put up notices on street near the location of the proposed change
- ask you for your comments
- report consultation responses to councillors on the Joint Transport Board who make the final decision which proposals go ahead
Making changes or introducing new parking restrictions can take a long time, and there is a holding list for requests.
