Director of finance and transformation - Sharon Shelton

Sharon looks after the council’s budget. This includes:

  • audit
  • benefits
  • fraud prevention
  • information technology  
  • revenues

Through the 'transformation' role, Sharon is involved with initiatives aimed at ensuring that services are cost effective and simpler to access.

Remuneration: Basic salary for this post is £98,196 and a yearly car cash payment of £4,812. Total salary and benefits is £103,008.

The post also attracts a separate fee payment, as appropriate, when acting as the duty emergency coordinator.

Director of planning, housing and environmental health - Eleanor Hoyle

Member of the council's corporate management team with overall responsibility for:

  • management of strategic planning and development policy
  • development management and building control services
  • housing services
  • environmental health services

Remuneration: The basic salary for this post is £98,196 and a yearly car cash payment of £4,812. Total salary and benefits is £103,008. The post also attracts a separate fee payment, as appropriate, when acting as the duty emergency coordinator.

Director of street scene, leisure and technical services - Robert Styles

Member of the council's corporate management team with overall responsibility for the management of waste and street scene services, management and development of leisure services and transportation and parking services.

Remuneration: Basic salary for this post is £98,196  and a yearly car cash payment of £4,812. Total salary and benefits is £103,008.

The post also attracts a separate fee payment as appropriate when acting as the duty emergency coordinator.

Chief planning officer -  James Bailey

Responsible for: management of the planning service including the development management function and plan making including the local plan, supplementary planning guidance together with countryside planning and environmental policy and conservation and the Building Control function.

Remuneration: Basic salary for this post is £70,527 plus a yearly car cash payment of £4,140. Total salary and benefits is £74,667.

Chief financial services officer - Neil Lawley

Responsible for:

  • management of the accountancy and exchequer functions including the budget
  • statement of accounts
  • payments
  • treasury management
  • banking and insurance arrangements
  • payroll and internal audit and fraud investigation

Neil also prepares, and advises on, the council's strategic finance plans and assists with both procurement and the transformation agendas.

Remuneration: Basic salary for this post is £70,527 plus a yearly car cash payment of £4,140. Total salary and benefits is £74,667.

Head of street scene and leisure - Darren Lanes

Responsible for: management of street scene, waste and leisure services most notably the refuse, recycling and street cleansing and grounds maintenance contracts and management and development of the council's indoor and outdoor leisure facilities.

Head of information technology - Ganesh Thangarajah

Responsible for: The development and delivery of all IT services, implementing and updating the IT Strategy, management of the Technical Support and Development teams and overseeing the management of cyber/information security risks.

Head of Legal and Democratic Services - Kevin Toogood

Responsible for: All line management and budget responsibilities for all of Legal Services including the Land Charges function as well as responsibilities as Deputy Monitoring Officer and Deputy Data Protection Officer.

Responsible for: Management of housing, environmental health and public health most notably the housing register, temporary accommodation, disabled facilities grants, food hygiene inspection programme and development and implementation of the Council's air quality action plan.
