Chief executive

The chief executive is the most senior officer with overall responsibility for the day-to-day work of the council and chairs the council's management team.

Remuneration: Basic salary for this post is £132,150 and a yearly car cash payment of £4,812. Total salary and benefits is £136,962.

The role also attracts a separate fee payment for acting as returning officer for elections.

Director of central services and deputy chief executive

Member of the council's corporate management team with responsibility for:

  • council property and estates
  • community safety and customer services
  • democratic services
  • facilities management
  • legal services
  • licensing land charges
  • media and communications
  • personnel and training

The deputy chief executive also undertakes the role of monitoring officer and data protection officer, and is the council's senior responsible officer for RIPA compliance.

Remuneration: Basic salary for this post is £105,714 and a yearly car cash payment of £4,812. Total salary and benefits is £110,526.

The post also attracts a separate fee payment, as appropriate, when acting as the duty emergency coordinator.
