Businesses can apply now for funding to help them tackle climate change.
Businesses in Tonbridge and Malling which are climate change focussed or looking to reduce their carbon footprint can now apply for a green grant to support their work.
The green business grants scheme is the latest initiative forming part of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s wider economic recovery and climate change strategies.
Part-funded through the government’s UK Shared Prosperity fund, the green grants scheme is divided into two categories:
- Section A grants - Grants of up to £8,000. Green businesses can apply for this grant to fund up to 40 per cent of business development initiatives.
- Section B grants - Grants of up to £5,000. Other businesses can apply for this grant to cover up to 40 per cent of the costs of reducing the carbon footprint of their premises.
Jeremy Whittaker, the council’s Strategic Economic Regeneration Manager, said: ‘There are many different ways that businesses can tackle climate change, however finding the money to make changes or new investment can be the biggest challenge. This scheme is one way that we can help businesses move a step closer to achieving their green goals.’
