A temporary Post Office will open towards the end of August at the Tonbridge Castle Gateway

The Post Office have today issued the following news release about a temporary Post Office soon to open at Tonbridge Castle Gateway:

A temporary Post Office for Tonbridge is to open at Tonbridge Castle Gateway to provide service to the community. Final arrangements are currently being made.

WHSmith which operates Tonbridge Post Office at 35-37 High Street TN9 1SQ is closing its store on 30 July.

Post Office has worked with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council to find a temporary solution for the town centre.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council has kindly provided Post Office with space at Tonbridge Castle Gateway, Castle Street, Tonbridge, TN9 1BG.

Cllr Vivian Branson, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, said: “It is vital for our residents to have continuity of Post Office services.  I am delighted that we have been able to assist the Post Office in finding a temporary viable venue in our magnificent Castle which everyone knows well.”

The service is due to open  by the end of August due to the availability of Post Office staff. Post Office will confirm the date as soon as possible.

In the interim alternative branches include York Parade and Higham Wood.

Emily Clive, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to soon have a solution to provide Post Office services in central Tonbridge as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. This temporary solution allows us to quickly provide Post Office services whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution. We thank Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council for working with us to find this suitable location.”

There will be one Post Office counter offering a wide range of everyday Post Office services.

The opening hours will be Monday to Thursday: 9am to 5pm; Friday: 9am to 4.30pm, Saturday: 9 am to 12.30pm.

This pop-up Post Office cannot offer the full range currently available including passport check and send, Parcelforce Worldwide services, driving licence renewals, vehicle tax, travel money, international driving permits and National Express Services. All of these services are available at Five Ways Post Office in Tunbridge Wells.

The permanent vacancy is advertised on www.runapostoffice.co.uk. We would welcome interest from retailers for a permanent replacement Tonbridge Post Office.
