Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council support Tonbridge and Malling In Bloom competition

Green fingered residents of Tonbridge and Malling have another opportunity to showcase their skills and transform the borough as the annual ‘In Bloom’ competition opens for a fifth year.

Hosted by Coolings Garden Centre, the competition is open to residents, businesses and communities. There are plenty of categories to enter, with a chance to win prizes of up to £25 in Coolings vouchers for each category. There is even a special category this year in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Categories include:

  • best front garden
  • best back garden
  • best planted pot, trough or hanging basket
  • best allotment plot
  • best pollinator friendly garden
  • best display of Jubilee colours (red, white and blue or the official Queen’s Platinum Jubilee colours – purple and platinum)
  • best commercial garden or horticultural display
  • best community project

Entry forms must be submitted by Friday 1 July and can be found at Coolings In Bloom - Coolings Garden Centre. Judging takes place from 4 July over three weeks and culminates in an awards ceremony planned for 29 July. Entrants will be sent a free voucher to spend in Coolings to start off their garden masterpiece.

Des Keers, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for community services, said: ‘The council is glad to support the annual In Bloom competition and give the gardeners among us their time to shine.

‘The green spaces throughout our borough are really something to be proud of, but when the residential, community and business areas are enhanced by all the extra planting brought about by the ‘In Bloom’ competition, then Tonbridge and Malling really stands out as a wonderful place to live and to visit.’
