These guidelines are here to help everyone enjoy a safe and positive experience on our social media channels and apply to accounts for Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and Tonbridge Castle.
What’s OK
We encourage:
- Friendly engagement: Share your thoughts, ask questions, and join the conversation
- Constructive feedback: We value your ideas and suggestions
- Respectful discussion:Differing opinions are welcome when shared respectfully
- Helpful sharing: Feel free to share useful information or resources
- Accessibility: We aim to make our content inclusive by using alt text, subtitles, and clear language
What’s not OK
To keep our channels safe and welcoming, we may hide, delete, or report content that:
- Is abusive, threatening, or harassing
- Contains hate speech or discrimination (including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism or religious intolerance)
- Includes offensive language or imagery
- Spreads false or misleading information
- Violates privacy or intellectual property rights
- Is spam
- Targets individuals, including staff or councillors, with defamatory or personal attacks
We may also block users who:
- Repeatedly post inappropriate content
- Use offensive usernames or profile pictures
- Tag us in harmful or abusive posts
If you’re blocked
Being blocked means you can no longer interact with our accounts. Here’s what you need to know:
- We don’t notify users when they’re blocked
- We record the reason and keep a screenshot of the offending content
- If you believe you’ve been blocked unfairly or in error, you can email us with details and we’ll review the case
- Blocking does not affect your right to make a formal complaint va the TMBC website

- We monitor our social media during working hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm)
- We strive to make our content informative, accessible and inclusive
- We aim to respond to queries as quickly as possible
- We remain politically neutral and respectful in all communications
