We have some simple rules we ask users of our open spaces to follow to ensure everyone can enjoy them safely and free from nuisance or anti-social behaviour. These rules are known as public space protection orders (PSPOs).
They apply to a range of locations including Leybourne Lakes Country Park, Tonbridge Memorial Gardens, Tonbridge Moorings, Haysden Country Park, Tonbridge Racecourse Sports Ground, Tonbridge Castle, Tonbridge Farm Sports Ground and Tonbridge Cemetery. There are also some that apply to open spaces across the whole of the borough.
Alcohol: It’s an offence to continue to drink alcohol in one of our public places when asked by an authorised officer not to do so.
Barbeques: Unauthorised barbeques are not permitted in our country parks.
Camping: Unauthorised camping is not permitted in our country parks and sports grounds.
Dogs: Dogs must be kept under control and on a lead where required, including church yards; owners must clear up after their dog; the maximum number of dogs a single person may exercise at one time is six.
Drones: Drones may not be flown in any council owned open space without authorisation.
Lake swimming: You are not allowed to swim in the lakes at our country parks without authorisation. This also includes Holborough Lakes.
Toilets: Public toilets are available at various locations in the borough. It is an offence to go to the toilet in a public place.
Nuisance associated with car/motorcycle meetings: You are not permitted to participate in car cruising activities as a passenger or a driver of a vehicle. You are also not allowed to congregate in an area to spectate car/motorbike meetings.
Vehicles on public open spaces: You can not park a vehicle on any public open space within the borough, unless it is a designated vehicle parking space.
Anyone breaching these rules may be liable to a penalty charge of up to £80.
