Water safety

Open water swimming can be dangerous. Some risks are obvious, but there might also be hidden dangers. These might include submerged debris, reeds, unexpected cold-water shock and ice. Some of our water bodies, in particular lakes, are not safe or appropriate for open water swimming. Unauthorized swimming in our water bodies is not allowed and we can fine you.

See Water safety and drowning at RoSPA  and ice safety  is available from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
