Innovation Park Medway is a new opportunity for businesses in technology, engineering, manufacturing, and knowledge-intensive sectors to grow in the South East. It aims to promote innovation and business growth in Medway, working alongside existing facilities like the Innovation Centre and Innovation Studios.
The park plans to provide support for the development of up to 101,000 square meters of businesses focused on high-value technology, advanced manufacturing, engineering and knowledge-intensive activities. It is one of three locations within the North Kent Enterprise Zone.
The Innovation Park Medway site falls under the jurisdiction of both Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and Medway Council. To facilitate its development, there are two separate but coordinated Local Development Orders (LDOs) in place.
Public consultations were held in 2019 and 2020 for the LDO and Environmental Statement. The latest consultation occurred from October 29 to November 30, 2020. The Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council's LDO has the planning reference 19/01419/FL. The LDOs were officially adopted in the Winter of 2020/21.
