Intermediate housing – shared ownership

All homes will be advertised through Help to Buy and prioritisation will be informed by government policy and local connection.

There are two considerations that will inform the prioritisation of households:

Government policy priority

Households awarded priority under relevant government policy at the time of sale or re-sale, including serving military personnel, veterans honourably discharged within two years, and existing social housing tenants.

Local connection

Top priority will be given to households with a local connection to the wards of Hadlow and East Peckham ward, Downs and Mereworth ward and Wateringbury ward.

Secondary priority will then be given to households with a local connection to the rest of the Borough of Tonbridge and Malling.

At first sale, a six-month period will be used for prioritisation of local connection households. For re-sales, priority will again be given to households with a local connection alongside Help to Buy criteria.

If there are no interested eligible buyers with a local connection, homes may be sold to any eligible household under national Help to Buy criteria.
