Groups and individuals are invited to dress and behave as their favourite literary character or characters and to join the Parade, which will the process behind a band from River Walk, over big bridge, along Castle Walk and up on to the castle lawn. Schools and youth groups are asked to advise parents and guardians of individual participation and they can accompany any child or vulnerable person.

This year there will also be an attempt at a Guiness World Record, attempting to beat the current record of 933 people to assemble in one place all wearing odd socks.
