Petitions about our constitution
Voters can submit a petition for us to hold a referendum on our constitution which governs council decision making.
Each year, we publish a verification number, equivalent to five per cent of the borough population. This is the number of electors required to sign the petition in order for us to hold a referendum.
The current verification number relevant to petitions presented before is 4,990. A new number will be published in February 2029.
