We pay councillors a range of allowances which are intended to recognise the time they devote to their role. Councillors may also receive compensation for expenses they incur while acting for the council.
Setting the allowance amount
We determine the value of the allowances following recommendations from an independent remuneration panel.

Payments history
We publish individual councillor's allowances and expenses. A file showing all councillor expenses from 2004 to the most recent published year is available to download in both pdf and csv data file format.
