Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs, if you’re over state pension age and on a low income. It can also help with housing costs, such as ground rent or service charges.
It is separate from your state pension. You can get Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings or own your own home.
It is estimated that up to 880,000 households are missing out on Pension Credit, and it is worth, on average, £3,900 per year.

Winter fuel payments
Starting winter 2024, the government has introduced changes to the Winter Fuel Payment scheme. Only pensioners who receive Pension Credit will be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment. This change is part of an effort to ensure that support is provided to those who need it most.
If you are a pensioner and are not yet receiving Pension Credit but believe you may be eligible, we strongly encourage you to apply.
