Domestic abuse is any abuse between current or former partners in an intimate relationship, wherever and whenever it occurs. The abuse may involve physical, sexual, emotional or financial abuse. It can affect both men and women.

Domestic abuse can have a devastating impact on individuals, families, and communities. At TMBC, we are committed to supporting anyone experiencing domestic abuse and ensuring their housing needs are met with sensitivity and care.
Who to contact for help
- In an emergency telephone the police on 999
- In a non-emergency you can call the police on 101.
- If you can’t speak out loud, you can press 55 so that the operator knows you need help.
Housing support
If you are experiencing domestic abuse and want advice and assistance regarding your housing situation, please contact the Housing Needs team on 01732 844522 or by email to housing.services@tmbc.gov.uk. Initially, they can offer you advice on your housing options, and they can do this over the telephone, or in person. They can send any correspondence to a friend or family member’s address if you would like them to do so.

The West Kent Domestic Abuse One Stop Shop at 4 New Wharf Road, Tonbridge, TN9 1DS is open every Wednesday from 9am to noon.

Help for perpetrators
The Community Domestic Abuse Programme is a rolling programme, designed to help men who feel their behaviour towards their partner has been, or is still, abusive. This programme will support men to make the changes they need to develop respectful, non-abusive relationships so that they are safe around your partner and any children.
