Hazardous waste
If you are a business find out more about hazardous waste at Classify different types of waste (GOV.UK).
Asbestos
There are a number of different types of asbestos. If you are not sure what type of asbestos you are dealing with, call a specialist contractor. See Asbestos for more information.
Batteries
Most high street stores selling batteries provide in-store recycling bins.
Car batteries, car oil, fluorescent and energy saving bulbs
All these items can be disposed of at your local Household Waste Recycling centre
Gas bottles
Where possible try to return these to the supplier. You can dispose of small numbers of gas bottles at your local Household Waste Recycling centre.
Sharps, needles, medical waste or infectious waste
To request a collection of sharps, needles, medical waste, or infectious waste please use the form below.
Book a sharps container collection
You can obtain a yellow sharps box from your medical practitioner for the first collection.
If the medical/infectious/sharps waste collections will be ongoing you will need to provide a letter from your medical practitioner.
When booking a collection us please advise how many boxes you have, where they can be placed for collection and if a replacement box is required. We will then advise you on the collection day.
Please note incontinence pads and nappies are not classed as clinical waste. Please put them into a bag and then into your black bin.
