Christmas recycling tips
We produce lots of extra waste over the festive season. You can help the environment by recycling as much as possible.
Tonbridge and Malling has one of the best recycling rates in Kent. Making sure as much of your waste as possible gets recycled or reused can help us do even better and minimise the impact waste has on our environment.
Top tips for an eco-friendly Christmas
- food leftovers: transform them into delicious meals and snacks. For tips on avoiding waste and saving money visit the Love food hate waste website
- use your food caddy to recycle any final leftovers, see what happens to your food waste
- foil food trays: rinse off and place in your green-lidded recycling bin
- cardboard and paper: put in your green box
- large cardboard boxes: should be flattened down and put out between your bins on recycling collection day or use them as a container for extra card and paper
- polystyrene, plastic bags and wrapping: put into your black rubbish bin
- wrapping paper and cards: can go into your green box. Sparkly paper and cards with glitter are not recyclable so go in your black bin
