- Description

A wonderful open space with a grassy picnic area and woodland walk. The river Bourne runs through the wood. There are signposted walks through the woods and tree information signs. To make the perfect day out there's a picnic area on the lower meadow.
The wood takes its name from Basted Mill, where paper was produced in the 18th century until the second half of the 20th century. You can still see traces of the mill, including the Old Mill Pond, which powered the water wheel. No longer a working pond, it's now home to a variety of domestic ducks. In the spring, the ground is blanketed with bluebells and orchards.
