Funding for community groups

Community and voluntary organisations in Tonbridge and Malling can now apply for funding through the borough council’s Community Development Grants scheme.

Grants are available to organisation that provides a service to residents or helps to improve the economic, social or environmental wellbeing of the borough.

Funded through the government’s UK Shared Prosperity fund, the Community Development Grants will be awarded in line with specific criteria. Applicants should address one of these priorities in their application:

  • Helping vulnerable communities through the cost-of-living crisis
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles
  • Improving community safety
  • Helping people gain skills to find employment
  • Supporting environmental and carbon reduction initiatives

Grants of up to £5,000 are available.  Applicants will need to state why a grant is needed, what it will be used for and how delivery of intended work will be measured.

Councillor Des Keers, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: ‘These grants are designed to help local groups to build on the excellent work they are already doing to improve the lives of residents.  We look forward to seeing this year’s applications.’

Applications close on 1 May 2024.
