Lighting - street lights

Last Updated:

Street lights can be the responsibility of one of 3 organisations.

  1. Most street lights are the responsibility of Kent County Council (KCC). Their street lights will have a cypher on the lighting column (letters and numbers). You can also check if a street light is a KCC one by using their online ‘report a problem’ facility and selecting one of the ‘Street Lighting’ options. When you zoom in to the mapping the blue dots represent KCC street lights.
  2. Some street lights are the responsibility of the local parish or town council.
  3. If a street light is not the responsibility of either KCC or the local parish or town council, it will probably be privately owned. For roads that have not been adopted this may be the developer or the Housing Association.
