Fraud

Report suspected fraud to our parking team. In order to investigate we will need information such as permit number (on the permit) and the vehicle registration number. Please also include any additional information that you may have.

We take part in the National Fraud Initiative that matches electronic data within and between public and private sector bodies to prevent and detect suspected fraud.

Resident permit application confirmation documents

You must supply one of the following as proof of residency:

  • Council Tax letter for the current year
  • Utility bill for the last 3 months
  • Bank statement within 3 months
  • Tenancy agreement
  • Solicitors letter confirming purchase of property

You must also supply a valid vehicle insurance certificate or vehicle registration document, in your name, at the qualifying address.

Change of vehicle

If you change your vehicle, you must contact the parking office to update your permit. You must supply proof of the vehicle in your name, at the qualifying address, before any change can be made.

You should use visitor permits until you can provide this proof.

If you use your permit on a vehicle that does not match the latest information you have supplied to us, you may be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice.

Business permit application confirmation documents

You must supply:

  • A letter, on the qualifying business headed paper, confirming your employment at the business
  • A valid vehicle insurance certificate in your name

If the vehicle is a company car, a letter on headed paper from your employer confirming you are the driver.

Change of vehicle

If you change your vehicle, you must contact the parking office to update your permit. You must supply proof of the vehicle in your name before any change can be made. You should use visitor permits until you can provide this proof. If you use your permit on a vehicle that does not match the latest information you have supplied to us, you may be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice.

Visitor permits for use in a permit area

Visitor permits must be applied for by the qualifying resident, when applying in person at our offices, you must supply one of the following:

  • Council Tax letter for the current year
  • Utility bill for the last 3 months
  • Bank statement within 3 months
  • Tenancy agreement
  • Solicitors letter confirming purchase of property

Terms and conditions

A parking space cannot be guaranteed.

Lack of space does not mean that the permit holder can park in contravention of restrictions or in a dangerous manner.

All drivers should comply with the local parking regulations and on site notices. If you are unsure, contact the parking office for help.

Any outstanding Penalty Charge Notices must be settled before a permit can be issued, penalty charges currently being challenged are exempt from this condition.

Resident permits cannot be transferred between individuals.

Business permits cannot be transferred between individuals.

Visitor permits must be completed fully in blue or black ink.

A valid permit must be clearly displayed at all times when in use. If it is not then you may be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice.

Bays with no Area/Zone letter are limited waiting bays that apply to everyone, with no exemption for permit holders.

We may request documentation at any time.

All permit vehicles must be covered by suitable vehicle insurance and where appropriate a current MOT Certificate and Road Fund Licence.

Contact the parking office for:

  • Changes to be made to your permit. By contacting the parking office, it will usually mean that changes can be made without the need to issue a replacement. Do not alter a permit as this will make it invalid.
  • Replacements for damaged or worn permits. Permits must be returned to the parking office.
  • Replacements for mislaid permits. There is a £10 fee for replacement permits.
  • Refunds for permits that are no longer required can be refunded. This is subject to a £10 fee and a minimum refund amount of £10.

Permits are automatically cancelled if new residents apply for an address. Refunds can be applied for contact the parking office for help or to see if any refund is due. Refunds are subject to a £10 administration fee and a minimum refund of £10.

Refunds are not issued for permits during periods of absence.

We reserve the right to withdraw any permit, or change the conditions applying to them. Should this be necessary you will be notified of the reasons in writing, prior to the effective date, offering you the opportunity to respond to the decision.
