Development Plan Documents (DPDs) - also known as local plans - contain the specific policies and proposals by which planning applications are assessed. It is therefore important that you read the adopted plans before you prepare your application to help make it valid.
An independently appointed Inspector assessed the soundness of each of these plans. The decisions of the Inspectors can be viewed by clicking on 'Inspector's Report' under each Plan title below.
The Core Strategy sets out the strategic spatial planning policies that underpin the other plans that make up the LDF (see below). It was adopted in September 2007.
Development Land Allocations DPD
The Development Land Allocations DPD lists all development sites necessary to meet the needs of the borough as identified in general terms by the Core Strategy. It was adopted in April 2008.
Tonbridge Central Area Action Plan
The Tonbridge Central Area Action Plan (TCAAP) sets out the spatial strategy for the regeneration of the central area of Tonbridge. It was adopted in April 2008.
Managing Development and the Environment DPD (MDE DPD)
The Managing Development and the Environment DPD contains policies designed to manage development in a way that maintains and enhances environmental quality whilst preserving a sense of place. The MDE DPD was adopted in April 2010.
In addition to the above listed DPDs, the Council also has in place the Saved Policies document. This contains those relevant policies from the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Local Plan that have not been replaced by the Core Strategy, the DLA DPD, the TCAAP and the MDE DPD. The Saved Policies document was adopted in April 2010.
Local Plan Proposals Map
The Local Plan Proposals Map illustrates the policies and proposals contained in the adopted plans. It is available to view online and download.
