Tonbridge Tennis Club - Trip to Le Puy
Having hosted the promising French junior, Ben Briat in 2012, Tonbridge Tennis Club undertook an exciting trip over the 2013 Easter Weekend to Le Puy's Tennis Club. Fifteen club members travelled to Tonbridge's Twin Town and were welcomed by the Town Council, twinning committee and the club with a town hall drinks reception and tour of the city.
On the tennis front, the juniors played every day with a Saturday doubles competition where English players were matched with French players with honours going to Le Puy player Ben Briat, although pushed hard by Tonbridge members Jon Ison and Alfie Hoare.
Le Puy are keen to re-invigorate exchanges with Tonbridge and Malling and there may be opportunities for other sporting clubs, as well as musical, dramatic and cultural groups to undertake similar trips.
