Summer Band Concerts

A series of free summer concerts will be taking place on the Bailey Lawn at Tonbridge Castle and everyone is welcome to come along.

The concerts, which will be performed by a mixture of amateur and professional bands, have been organised by Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and will take place between 3pm and 5pm. There is no need to book a ticket – people can just turn up on the day and enjoy the music, bring a picnic or take advantage of the stalls on site.

Every Sunday will feature a different band:

  • 29 July – Jon Hamilton Big Band
  • 6 August – Second Wind Jazz Band
  • 12 August – Invicta Jazz Orchestra
  • 2 September – Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band

The Hildenborough Women’s Institute will be selling cakes alongside Mochafella who will be selling tea and coffee. Ice cream and traditional sweets will also be available.

WW1 Event - 18 & 19 August

Put it in your diary now! An event that will educate and entertain, and be like nothing Tonbridge has seen for a century. In and around the Castle, visitors will see a replica Great War tank, soldiers and nurses of the period, a search dog, horses, and First World War artefacts, all to the sound of music from the time. Tonbridge 100 in conjunction with Tonbridge historical society will be a visual experience of life one hundred years ago. More participants are expected to be announced, so come to the Castle and step back in time. Entry is free, with donations to the Poppy Appeal.

We hope you can join us to remember those that have gone before us, and those who continue to serve.

Illyria - Hound of the Baskervilles - 28 August

The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Who killed Sir Charles Baskerville? Can anyone prevent the same fate befalling the young Sir Henry Baskerville? Is a monstrous hound really roaming Dartmoor? Why is someone systematically stealing Sir Henry’s shoes? And how does a ghostly hound manage to leave vast paw-prints and other unwelcome evidence of its existence?

The original and greatest literary detective of them all, Sherlock Holmes, and his assistant Doctor Watson, tackle the most baffling case of their careers in this faithful, cheeky but chilling adaptation...

Enjoy the Open Air Theatre on the Castle Lawn, bring a picnic or take advantage of the stalls on site.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council recognised the film's worth and a Community Enhancement Grant was given to support the launch event. See the full video at
