Fraud Assistant

We are recruiting a Fraud Assistant to join our highly respected audit and counter fraud section. At this time of change within the Council you will help our internal audit and counter fraud service by providing administrative and business support to the team, in particular to support proactive fraud and investigations work. Some time may also be allocated to support the audit function.

The post is career graded and therefore offers the opportunity to progress as experience increases. You will be able to demonstrate relevant experience of providing administrative and business support in an office environment. You will have a track record of delivering high quality, accurate work and will have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure through Disclosure Scotland.

Senior Auditor

We are recruiting a Senior Auditor to join our highly respected audit and counter fraud section. At this time of change within the Council you will provide value adding assurance and consultancy work aimed at supporting the Council to deliver its objectives.

You will be able to demonstrate relevant experience of internal audit, including a working knowledge of corporate governance, risk management and internal control. you will bring a proven track record of delivering high quality risk-based work in conformance with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. You should be self-motivated with a positive, flexible approach and a good understanding of the challenges facing the public sector.

The role will require reporting findings to and liaising with colleagues at all levels, including senior managers and Directors, so excellent communication and negotiation skills are a must.

Planning Officer (Trainee)

Following our recent Service Review we have created two new posts for people interested in following a career in Town Planning. The new post holders will have the opportunity to develop skills in Development Management and possibly Planning Policy, including processing planning applications, giving advice, and, monitoring legal agreements. Support, guidance and mentoring will be provided by the Principal Planning Officers.
You should be committed, thorough and able to fit into a well-established, busy and friendly team. You should be keen to learn and able to adapt to changing demands and situations. The new post holders will be expected to commence a recognised Town Planning course suitable to their qualifications, either at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
The Royal Town Planning Institute is in the process of developing a Chartered Town Planner Higher Apprenticeship, due to be completed by the summer of 2018. These posts will become Higher Level Apprenticeships.

Environmental Protection Officer

You will work within the Council’s Environmental Protection Team with particular reference to: undertaking and completing the Team’s duties in respect of environmental monitoring, including air quality monitoring, landfill gas monitoring; undertake the duties required by the Private Water Supply Regulations 2009; co-ordinating the Team’s duties and responsibilities under the Local Air Quality Management regime (LAQM); and responding to planning consultations in respect of air quality and private water supplies.

You will be science degree (or equivalent) qualified, with experience of scientific monitoring, investigation and assessment.
