Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP)

Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council provides accommodation to rough sleepers during spells of severe weather, usually between October and March, but we do sometimes activate it at other times of the year if required.

If you see someone Rough Sleeping and you think that they are suffering the effects of exposure to the weather, then immediately dial 999.

We notify our network of partners, which includes Porchlight, Voluntary Agencies, Local Faith Groups and others that SWEP has been activated and they can refer rough sleepers to us for accommodation.

If you are rough sleeping you can also self-refer by contacting the Housing Options and Support Service on 01732 876067 during office hours or 01732 844522 out of hours.
