Energy Efficiency in Rented Homes

An energy performance certificate (EPC) shows how energy efficient a rented property is and will also detail if improvements have been undertaken using Green Deal finance.

A landlord is required to:

  • Arrange for and obtain an EPC from a registered assessor
  • Make a copy of the EPC available to any prospective tenant free of charge
  • Give the tenant a copy of the EPC before they sign the tenancy agreement
