3 ways we can help
You can dispose of your bulky waste through one of three services;
- Saturday bulky service: You take bulky waste to a stationary vehicle.
- Bulky waste and fridge/freezer collection service: We visit you to collect the waste. This is a charged-for service - see below for details.
- Household Waste Recycling Centres (commonly known as "the tip.")
Before throwing away household items, such as electrical goods or bulky furniture, that are still of good quality think about ways of re-using or donating your items to local charities.
Bulky waste and fridge/freezer collection service
We collect up to 6 items of bulky waste including fridges/freezers, from outside your property.
There is a charge of £50.00 for up to 6 bulky items, including fridge/freezers. If you only have a fridge/freezer for collection, the charge is reduced to £25.00. Payment can only be taken via credit or debit cards.
Credit card payments made before 13 January 2018 include an additional charge of 1.5% (75p on £50.00 or 38p on £25.00) by the card provider. From 13 January 2018, the additional charge for credit card payments will not apply. Debit card payments do not currently incur this additional charge.
If you are in receipt of Council Tax Reduction benefit you may be eligible for a collection at a reduced charge of £10.00 per collection. This reduced rate is limited to one collection every three months.
We can collect most bulky household items that you would normally take with you when moving house, but we cannot collect very heavy or large items such as pianos, concrete, large water tanks, oil storage tanks, engines and engine oil, liquid material, tyres, toxic materials or builder's waste and rubble.
