Private Water Supply Charges

The following fees, for work related to monitoring of Private Water Supplies have been set in accordance with section 13 of the Private Water Supply Regulations 2018 amendment.

Council's direct cost

Risk Assessment

  • TMBC's charge: £60 per hour (VAT is not chargeable)
  • Comments: To cover time spent on site and completion of report.

Sampling

  • TMBC's charge: £60 per hour (VAT is not chargeable)
  • Comments: Charge for each sampling visit.

Investigation

  • TMBC's charge: No charge
  • Comments: Visit carried out in the event of failure.

Authorisation

  • TMBC's charge: No charge
  • Comments: Application by the owner of a supply for permission to breach a standard temporarily whilst remedial work is carried out.

Laboratory analysis of samples

Under Reg. 10 (Small non- commercial Supplies)

  • TMBC's charge: The exact cost charged by the laboratory for scientific analysis within the maximum allowed (VAT is not recharged.)
  • Comments: Applies to a supply that is for <10m3 /day; <50 people; or is used for non-commercial purposes.

Check Monitoring (Commercial/ Large Supplies)

  • TMBC's charge: The exact cost charged by the laboratory for scientific analysis within the maximum allowed (VAT is not recharged.)
  • Comments: Applies to a supply that is for >10m3 /day; >50 people; or is used for commercial purposes; or is a public building.

Audit Monitoring (Commercial/ Large Supplies)

  • TMBC's charge: The exact cost charged by the laboratory for scientific analysis within the maximum allowed (VAT is not recharged.)
  • Comments: Applies to a supply that is for >10m3 /day; >50 people; or is used for commercial purposes; or is a public building.

Please note these are TMBC's current charges but these are subject to change. TMBC have decided upon these charges based on current compatible Environmental Protection services and other Kent local authority charges.
