Doing business with the council
Selling to the Council Guide
The Council has produced a selling to the Council guide. It covers areas including how to tender for business, how contracts are awarded, partnering and e-procurement. The document advises potential suppliers about how to apply for council contracts. It also gives guidance on how the council advertises contracts and includes extracts of relevant legislation, council policies and contract procedure rules.
Kent businesses interested in contract opportunities advertised on the Kent Business Portal can register, free of charge, at www.kentbusinessportal.org.uk . The Council's Procurement Strategy sets out how we will address procurement and establishes its importance to the Council and the contribution it can make to improved service delivery. The strategy includes a policy statement on procurement with small and medium-sized businesses, voluntary and community organisations. We have also become a signatory to the Government's small business-friendly concordat which seeks to promote the interests of small businesses in supplying services to the public sector. The strategy also includes a sustainable procurement policy statement and encourages suppliers to demonstrate an awareness of environmental best practice.
The Council is a signatory to the Department for Business Innovation and Skills Prompt Payment Code.
