Selling to the Council Guide

The Council has produced a selling to the Council guide. It covers areas including how to tender for business, how contracts are awarded, partnering and e-procurement. The document advises potential suppliers about how to apply for council contracts. It also gives guidance on how the council advertises contracts and includes extracts of relevant legislation, council policies and contract procedure rules.

Kent businesses interested in contract opportunities advertised on the Kent Business Portal can register, free of charge, at . If you wish to be considered for one or more of this Council's contracts advertised on the portal then you should use the portal to express your interest.

Up to 2014/15 details of contracts awarded of £20,000 or more.

From 2015/16 details of contracts awarded of £5,000 or more including purchase orders together with additional information on whether the contractor was an SME and whether the contract was subject to an invitation to tender, request for quote, purchase order, etc.

Suppliers to the Council can choose to have Council purchase orders sent by email rather than post

Procurement Strategy

The Council's Procurement Strategy sets out how we will address procurement and establishes its importance to the Council and the contribution it can make to improved service delivery. The strategy includes a policy statement on procurement with small and medium-sized businesses, voluntary and community organisations. We have also become a signatory to the Government's small business-friendly concordat which seeks to promote the interests of small businesses in supplying services to the public sector. The strategy also includes a sustainable procurement policy statement and encourages suppliers to demonstrate an awareness of environmental best practice.
