South East Business Boost

A new fund has been launched to help SMEs in Essex, Kent and East Sussex increase capacity and continue growing. The South East Business Boost fund is exclusively for small to medium sized businesses or start-ups based in the South East (SELEP) area.

The funding, which provides grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 can be used to purchase goods or services related to increasing sales, improving productivity and boosting profitability.

Start Up Loans

Start Up Loans are government-backed personal loans for business purposes. Every individual who receives funding from the Start Up Loans Company will be offered an experienced mentor who is on hand to help your business succeed.

  • Up to £25,000 finance available
  • 6% p.a. fixed rate interest with a 1-5 year loan term
  • UK based businesses only
  • No application fee and no early repayment fee
  • Available whether you are just starting or your business is already trading.

Transport and Logistical Efficiencies (TALE)

TALE is a project aimed at helping SMEs to make the most of their logistics data, to improve profit margins and reduce costs. Any SME that has an element of transportation or logistics could be eligible for a grant through this programme. For more information go to the TALE website.

Kent and Medway Business Fund

Kent County Council has relaunched its loan programme for Kent businesses and aims to deliver £5m of investment to businesses across Kent and Medway in 2017/18. The scheme offers 0% loans between £50,000 and £500,000 to small and medium sized businesses with the potential to create new jobs and growth within Kent. Loans can be used to develop new or expand existing products, services or processes where these lead to new jobs, deliver business growth and improve product

Sustainable Travel Grants

Businesses in Kent can apply for grant funding of up to £5,000 to implement sustainable travel measures which aid them in achieving the targets set out in their Travel Plans. Examples of measures include showers, lockers and cycle parking.
