Preparing for emergencies
Individual members of the public, as well as official organisations, should make their own preparations. If you are able to help yourself, you are not reliant on help from others who may not be immediately available. Staff from official organisations may not be available during an emergency situation as they may be directly affected themeselves.

Business continuity
Business continuity is a necessary and important management process that helps keep an organisation going even in the most trying of times. Business continuity plans are put in place by business owners/managers to ensure that they keep their business going, possibly pared down to critical services, in the event of an emergency.
Community risks and community resilience
A Community Risk Register provides an agreed position on the risks affecting a local area and to help organisations to prioritise and prepare for those risks.
