A series of free summer concerts will be taking place on the Bailey Lawn at Tonbridge Castle beginning on Sunday 14 July.
The concerts, which will be performed by a mixture of amateur and professional bands, have been organised by Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and will take place between 3pm and 5pm. There is no need to book a ticket – people can just turn up on the day and enjoy the music, bring a picnic or take advantage of the stalls on site.
Every Sunday will feature a different band:
14 July – Jon Hamilton Big Band
28 July – Second Wind Jazz Band
11 August – Invicta Jazz Orchestra
18 August – Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band
25 August – East Grinstead Concert Band
The Hildenborough Women’s Institute will be selling cakes alongside Mochafella who will be selling tea and coffee. Ice cream will also be available, as well as delicious fudge from Felicity Fudge. New for 2019, there will be an arts and crafts stall to entertain the children, and visitors are welcome to bring a picnic.
Cllr Mark Rhodes, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, says: "Our popular free summer Sunday afternoon concerts have become a regular feature in our annual events’ calendar and I’m pleased to welcome back these great bands to entertain us for another season. Once again, we have a great selection of music for everyone to enjoy, ranging from soul classics and jazz numbers to big band classics – all we need is some fair weather and I can’t think of a nicer way to spend a summer afternoon!”
