Social housing in Tonbridge and Malling is supplied and managed by registered providers, such as housing associations. To be considered for one of these homes you must be on the housing register (waiting list).

To join the housing register you must

  • be 16 or over
  • live in the UK and not be subject to immigration control
  • have a local connection to Tonbridge and Malling
  • have a housing need, as defined by our allocations scheme

When you apply you will be asked to upload supporting documents. These are used to establish if you meet the criteria to join the register.

Kent Homechoice

We operate as part of Kent Homechoice. If you already have an account on Kent Homechoice, you need to log into this with your email and password and you can then make an application. If you have not made an application previously, you will first be required to log into Kent Homechoice and create an account.

Join our housing register

Once your account is activated, you can log in and bid for properties.

Properties will be offered to those with the highest priority band and longest wait time.

Social housing is in very short supply and if you can join our housing register, it is likely you will wait for a very long time to be made an offer of a home. Given this we do offer advice on other housing options including privately renting, and shared ownership which may mean you can move more quickly.

Updates

We currently have a backlog in assessing applications, but we will update our webpages weekly on progress.

We review documents applicants have submitted to support their application before we fully assess it. This means that we may contact you to ask for more documents, and give you seven days to provide these, but it may still take some time before you hear from us with the outcome of your application.

Documents are being reviewed that were submitted in:

  • May 2024

Applications are being assessed with a priority date between:

  • 15 October 2023 – 15 November 2023
