Building Control Surveyor

Salary range from 19,485 to £37,362 pa depending on experience.
37 hours per week
Based at West Malling, ME19 4LZ

Working as part of a Shared Service Building Control Team you will have a varied and interesting role. Duties will include checking plans in accordance with the Building Regulations, carrying out site inspections and responding to reports of dangerous structures.

The successful candidate will be experienced within building control and will have a proven track record of dealing with residential and commercial property. If you have a positive, team working approach to service delivery this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and make a real impact in improving our services. The post holder will be required to travel throughout the Sevenoaks District and Tonbridge & Malling Borough.

Technical Support Officer (Engineering)

Salary up to £24,561 pa
plus car allowance, easy parking, flexi time, and career average pension scheme

Based at Kings Hill, ME19 4LZ

You will assist the Engineering Manager and Parking Manager with day to day engineering activities, including asset inspections, site inspections, information gathering, general surveys, monitoring of contractors, carrying out health & safety checks, requesting quotations and the delivery of projects. You will have a Diploma or Certificate in a relevant engineering discipline, or significant relevant experience. In any event you will have a working understanding of civil engineering techniques and methods, and be computer literate.

Housing Options & Support Officer

You will have previous experience of housing advice work and have an understanding of current housing issues. You will be able to assess the circumstances of those in housing need in a holistic way providing a high quality, personalised advice and advocacy service to address housing need and supports people to maximise their income, employment and training opportunities. Particular emphasis will be on the prevention and resolution of housing need and homelessness to enable improved housing and wellbeing, ensuring that customers have access to support and guidance on the areas of their lives that may be impacting on their housing situation. You will be required to investigate homeless applications and issue decision letters in accordance with the Council's statutory duties. Above all you will be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills and have the desire to enable the best possible outcomes for customers experiencing housing difficulties.

Temporary Revenues & Visiting Assistant

Salary up to £21,789 per annum depending upon experience

The Revenue Section is responsible for collecting council tax and business rates, but there's much more to it than that. That's because we are providing a service to the public – it's not always popular, but that's what makes it such a challenge.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a customer service environment, with good IT, maths, telephone and letter writing skills. Previous experience of working in a revenues environment and visiting customers would be an advantage.

Are you a forward thinking, talented, dedicated professional, with a proactive approach to identifying housing needs? The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling and maximising affordable housing delivery across the Borough working with Registered Providers and developers as well as bringing forward new models of delivery and seeking out funding opportunities. You will support the work of the Council's Housing and Planning Services working on a wide range of housing related projects, building and developing partnerships and negotiating positive outcomes for the Council.

With excellent research, analytical and communication skills you will have the ability to provide clear advice and guidance on strategic housing issues. Previous experience in such a role is desirable, and training and professional development opportunities will be available to the successful candidate.
