Until recently (June 2011) the Council had a 1,400(+) Tonbridge & Malling Residents' Panel to provide feedback on council services and performance. It was made up entirely of Tonbridge and Malling residents from right across the borough. The panel was first established during 2000 and totally renewed during autumn 2005.
Members of the panel were consulted by postal/online surveys, usually once or twice a year in recent years, on borough-wide issues. Response rates within the range 70-90% helped us achieve accurate and reliable results. Sometimes we combined surveys with other organisations, which meant fewer questionnaires and lower research costs.
The panel provided views about residents' priorities for making Tonbridge and Malling a better area in which to live. Their views have helped shape the priorities set out in the Council's Corporate Performance Plan.
Use of the panel supplemented the many regular and one-off surveys that have been a feature of the Council's approach to monitoring and developing services in line with users and residents' needs for many years.
This year (2012) we intend to establish a new online residents' panel that is representative of Tonbridge and Malling residents.
