If you are buying a new washing machine most retailers will now collect your old equipment at no or low cost, for recycling. Contact your store for more information. White good can also be collected through the council's bulky goods services, this may involve a charge or you can take them to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre

If you are buying new white goods most retailers will now collect your old equipment at no or low cost, for recycling. Contact your store for more information. | Wood |

Untreated wood pieces (no longer than 1m or thicker than 4 inches) can be collected in the green-lidded bin. Larger amounts of wood or treated wood pieces can be taken to your Household Waste Recycling Centre. Some centres have specific areas for wood to be recycled.

Most waste apart from bulky items, hot ashes, clinical waste, liquids and paint tins can be disposed of in the black bin. Black bin waste is taken to the Energy from Waste facility at Allington where it is burnt to create electricity.
