Canine residents of Tonbridge, along with their human companions, are invited to put their best paws forward for the Tonbridge Dog Show on Sunday 30 July at Tonbridge Racecourse Sportsground. As part of national Love Parks Week, the fun dog show will also have a serious side, promoting responsible dog ownership and encouraging dog owners to help keep the borough's parks clean and tidy for all to enjoy.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the free event which will run from 10am – 4pm. For dogs taking part in the show there will be a small fee of £1.50 per dog per class. There will be a variety of novelty classes, including Beautiful Rescue, Best Trick, Fabulous Family, Cutest Puppy, Best Oldie, Judge would like to take home, Loveliest Crossbreed, Fancy Dress and Waggiest Tail! There will be stalls, fun and games and food and drink available on the day as well as a raffle with a host of prizes donated by local businesses including a paintballing experience for ten people, a five day gym pass, fun golf tickets, trampoline tickets and lots of doggy treats to win. A host of information on responsible dog ownership will also be available.
Registration starts at 10am with judging of classes from 11am until approximately 4pm, when prizes will be presented to the winners of each category.
The Dog Show is organised by the Dog Warden for Tonbridge and Malling, Lorraine Baseden and Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council's Cleaner Borough Team with support from Ward Security providers of the borough's dog warden service. This year all proceeds will go to the charity: Abigail's Footsteps (Still Birth Bereavement). Abigail's Footsteps was founded by Ward Security's CEO, David Ward.
Cllr David Lettington, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Street Scene and Environment Services, says: "I hope people will come along to enter their dogs or to spectate - this will be a fun event for all the family. It's also the perfect opportunity to find out more about responsible dog ownership and raise money for a worthwhile charity. Thank you to all the local organisations that have donated to the raffle so generously."
