Tonbridge and Malling residents who are worried about the condition of their homes can get free help and advice on how to make improvements by contacting the Borough Council to arrange a home visit.

Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council's 'Warm & Healthy Home' visits are available to residents who own or privately rent their homes.

At the visit, Council officers will:

  • Identify any significant health and safety hazards in the home such as damp or mould; whether the home is too cold; dangerous electrics; trip or fall hazards; or inadequate fire safety measures.
  • Advise residents on any available funding to improve their housing conditions and liaise with the landlord where necessary.
  • Signpost residents to appropriate organisations such as the Home Improvement Agency and Kent Fire & Rescue Service who may be able to offer further help or advice.

Cllr Sophie Shrubsole, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council's Cabinet member for Housing, says: "We want residents to be aware of the help we can provide to those who are worried about the condition of their homes, and we encourage them to arrange a home visit. Our trained officers will be able to spot any health hazards quickly and explain what help may be available to put things right as quickly as possible."
