East Peckham Flood Relief Partnership

Over the New Year period in 2002, East Peckham, along with other parts of the country, suffered serious flooding.

In November 2005 the East Peckham dam was officially commissioned by the Mayor (at that time) Cllr Derek Still and Sir John Stanley MP, with final completion of engineering works in June 2006. The dam is now operated by the Environment Agency.

The East Peckham Flood Relief Partnership was set up by this Council to co ordinate a multi-agency approach to:

  • Identify the causes of flooding
  • To research possible solutions and
  • To oversee measures to reduce the risk of flooding in the future

In order to keep the people and businesses of East Peckham informed and updated, the council produced a pdf logo newsletter detailing what the East Peckham Flood Relief Partnership has done since New Year 2002.

The Partnership includes representatives from:

  • Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council
  • Kent County Council - Highways Department
  • Upper Medway Internal Drainage Board
  • Southern Water
  • Environment Agency
  • East Peckham Parish Council
  • East Peckham Flood Group

East Peckham Flood Group

East Peckham Flood Group is run by volunteers who all live in East Peckham. The Flood Group is funded by subscription membership (although subscriptions are not currently being collected as they have sufficent funds for their needs). The Flood Group usually have monthly meetings after which they produce a newsletter, which is printed by Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, to update flood group members. Volunteers then distribute their newsletter to group members.
